Tanguy Cariou’s Alinghi hits top spot on Day 4 of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 8
Switzerland’s Extreme 40 catamaran, Alinghi, skippered by Tanguy Cariou, has been showing excellent improvement since the second day of the 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 8 and the squad’s hard work has paid them as the Swiss team made their way to the
top mark with 187 points. The team put up a sensational performance on penultimate day of the event at the port of Almeria.
Cariou and crew are now heading to the final day of the event with an 18 point advantage, which will definitely benefit them in their campaign to win the series. Italy’s Luna Rossa has also shifted their previous position and are now at second place with
169 points while the French team, despite a collision with the Kiwi team, managed to take third place with 162 points.
Weather conditions on the fourth day of 2011 Extreme Sailing Series Act 8 were excellent to make a terrific run. The winds blew over the port of Almeria up to 18 knots, which ramped up sailing action a few gears in Andalusia. All is left to see whether Alinghi
is going to hold on to the lead at the end of the final day or not.
