Tanisha Wright leads Seattle Storm to a 73-55 win over
San Antonio Silver Stars – WNBA Recap
On Thursday night, Tanisha Wright scored a game-high 17 points, including 11 in the third quarter as Seattle Storm beat San Antonio Silver Stars 73-55 at Key Arena. With the win, Strom put a halt to their three-game tail spin.
Wright also contributed three assists, three rebounds and three steals on the night. The 27-year-old guard finished with 7 for 11 shooting from the field. Swin Cash punctuated 15 points including four daggers from downtown, and
grabbed nine rebounds in the victory. Camille Little also racked up 10 points and four rebounds for Storm, who have won three of their previous six games.
Sophia Young led San Antonio with 12 points, three rebounds and three steals. Becky Hammon added 11 points and three rebounds while Jia Perkins came off the bench with 10 points for the Silver Stars, who saw their two-game winning
streak halted.
Seattle shot 49.1 percent (27 for 55) from the field and 84.6 percent (11 for 13) from free throw line. On the other hand, it was a cold shooting performance by Silver Stars. They went 18 for 65 (27.7 percent) from the field and
16 for 21 (76.2 percent) from the line. Additionally, Storm outscored the visiting team 30-20 on the points in the paint.
Seattle scored the first five points of the opening period to take initial lead. Both teams then played a very close game until the last 55 second of the quarter when Seattle went on a 6-0 run and carried a 19-14 lead, going into
the second. Storm were simply unstoppable in the second quarter as they outscored San Antonio 19-8 and stretched their lead to 16 points, 38-22, at halftime.
The Silver Stars committed five turnovers early in the third quarter. Storm successfully converted four of them into eight points and widened their lead to 24 points, 46-22. Seattle maintained their double-digit lead for rest of
the period and held a 57-35 at the end of the quarter. Trailing by 22 points after three, the struggling Silver Stars did not get any closer than 15 points in the last quarter.
