Question:

Tank topper or homemade ledge for my hamster?

I am purchasing a new hamster and I already have an aquarium tank as a cage. I want a bit more room for my furry friend so I was wondering if I should spend the $25 on a tank topper and waste my budget or just make some ledges and somehow attach them.

  1. well i put my hamster in a aquarium tank too, i really think they like a tank better and all i gave them is a hamster wheel, some wooden toys and a little sand box, they pee and poo in there also for them to sand bath themself. i did buy a tank topper, but i suggest you to buy a tank topper with some hamster pipe because hamsters like to climb. and also they have sell this little wooden house for them too (two uses 1. sleep 2. chew. i won't give them anyhing with color even its non-toxic.

and for free run time i put them in a hamster ball so they won't get lost.

  2. It doesn't sound as if you want a tank topper.  You could make a few open cubes to increase floor space.  Make them out of untreated wood though, because your hammy will chew on the new platforms.

  3. Get a tank topper. It's not going to waste your budget. It's a worthwhile expense to provide proper room & air ventilation for your hamster.

  4. omg get your hamster a cage there called "hamster" cages get a big one and put it's toys in it duuuuuuhhhhh well good luck
