Tanking suggestions?

What did you think of Brian Taylor when he made claims that Power are tanking.

On the Sunday Footy Show they had shown the press confrence after the game betwwen Power/Tigers and he then suggested that Power were Tanking

They really have to be talking shite.  Up until then, Power had more than a mathematical chance of making the eight.

I doubt their coach would know how to say the word, let alone spell it.  Their egotistical jerk captain would never do it. A dozen other good reasons...

Libba really started a trend didn't he tanking is becoming the catch phrase of the season.

I really don't think any team would tank even if their coach told them  their competitive instinct wouldn't allow it.

I don't think that Port are tanking. I believe that teams do tank, but Port just aren't playing well. Carlton tanked last year at the end of the season, and that was obvious, but I don't think any teams are tanking yet this year.

**Brian Taylor made a good point this morning but I think you should keep in mind when Mark Williams made the comments that he did after yesterday's loss he was probably very angry and they would have been made without talking to anyone else in the club.

As far as I'm concerned a club shouldn't give up until after they don't have a chance of making the finals - that is when they have lost at least 11 games.

When coaches make comments like Williams did it makes you wonder why the fans would bother going to the games if they don't think the team is going out there to give it their all.

If 'tanking' is really an issue in footy then a few teams would be guilty of doing it once they don't have a chance of making the finals.  Just because you're going to introduce new blood into the team and try players in different positions doesn't necessarily mean that you're going out there to lose, it just means that now is the time when you can afford to try new things and see if it helps your side.**
