Tankmanustong Warut overpowers Joe Wu in Men’s Singles qualifying round at Thailand Open
Thailand’s upcoming player Tankmanustong Warut showed his impressive class when he overpowered his higher ranked rival Joe Wu of New Zealand in Men’s Singles qualifying round at SCG Thailand Open 2012 in Bangkok, on Tuesday, June 5.
The Thai started his run in a confident way and took the opening game impressively. However, he failed to put remain in control in the second game and lost it. But in the final set, Warut managed to win the battle with tight margin on the board.
On the other hand, Joe received a severe treatment from his rival in the opening game but managed to win the second one. Nevertheless, he could not live up to expectations at the ending points of final set and lost the contest with a decent score on the
board.
In the first game, Warut remained in impressive control and kept an upper hand over his opponent. Until the mid-game interval, the Thai shuttler was leading on the board.
After the interval, Warut did not let Joe to control the pace at any stage as he continued playing dominating badminton and remained successful bagging the set with a convincing 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, Joe changed his strategy and played completely different game this time as he did not let his opponent to play attacking badminton by keeping the bird low at net and remained ahead on the board until the break.
After the interval, Warut tried to elevate his play by putting more power into his shots but failed to find gaps and eventually lost the set with a margin of 16-21.
In the decider, the Thai shuttler controlled the pace from the start and remained ahead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Joe managed to find a good flow and levelled the score but failed to stop the progress of his rival at the ending phase.
Warut played well at the ending points and won the set with a close 21-19 score on the board.
The Thai ousted Joe in rubber games of 43 minutes with a convincing score of 21-13, 16-21 and 21-19.
