Question:

Tanning? Newbie looking for some pointers?

I am getting married 6/27/09. I want a tan-nothing really dark, just noticeable color. I've only been tanning a couple times years ago.

I have very light skin and it takes a lot for me to get color. I'd prefer a booth.

When should I start and for how long?

  1. Try Johnsons Holiday Skin Self-tanning it starts to work the first time you use it and you tend to use it once a day it builds up a healthy natural looking tan and it's really cheap but has amazing results.

have a great wedding day i'm sure you'll look beautiful!

  2. totally start a while before.  but remember. when you're light like that, your tan seems to fade faster. so you're going to have to keep up with it to atleast keep that light brown tan.  but only a couple of times a week.  you dont want to burn and peel and have to start all over again.  if your tanning salon sells any type of lotion (not oil).. but actual sun tan lotion that they allow you to wear, i would definitely put it on.  also remember that if you're scared, they can put you in for like 2 minutes if that's all you want just to make sure... and build from there once you're comfortable with that amount of time.  ** Buy allow if you're the type to burn

    hope this helps

  3. i would start in february or march if i were you. start out extremely slow, b/c if you burn by going to long in the booth then you will peel and just have to start all over again. i normally start out at about 6 min then gradually move up a min so my skin can get used to it. once you reach 20 min ( max time in tanning bed) or the color you desire then just do maintenance tans like once a week until your wedding. that way you arent too dark and you wont be burnt on your day. i usually use some sort of bronzer tan lotion (not that painful tingle stuff) and it works well. be careful though it does rub off so dont use it the day of your wedding. congratulations!
