Tanning bed goggles?

Hi! So, the past few times I've been to the tanning bed, I have used those free Winkies they provide. And now I have a terrible case of Raccoon Eye. AHH.

I don't want to buy the goggles b/c they are 5 dollars. Should I just do it? Do they provide ZERO raccoon eye? THANKS! (Also, YES, I know I am giving myself skin cancer...I don't intend to tan like this a lot..only now b/c school is almost here)

  1. i wouldnt waste money on a pair of goggles when i go i just close my eyes and i dont get raccoon eyes either

  2. just go without goggles, then you won't have ANY racoon eyes. just make sure you keep your eyes closed!

    EDIT:

an excessive amount of anything is going to be bad for you. i can't say for sure if it penetrates the lids, but in the 3 years i have worked at the salon, we have NEVER had anyone complain that their eyesight has been affected by the tanning, and we do have countless customers who won't wear the goggles due to racoon eyes. (we did have one brainiac that claimed her contacts MELTED to her eyes because she couldn't get them out....turns out she didn't have them in in the first place...genius, lol...)

on the other hand, we do have customers that DO wear the goggles, and i've never noticed the racoon effect on them before. they are so little they only cover the part of the lid that covers the eye, so even if the skin tone is a little uneven, if you wear makeup you shouldn't be able to notice it.

we also have customers who don't tan their faces at all, they cover them up with towel while they tan and then use a facial bronzer (i believe this keeps from aging your face with the tanning).

    good luck!
