Tanning for a brown skinned person?

I'm Indian, IT industry. Naturally I have the tshirt tan going, but I'm pretty pale now except for my arms, legs, neck area etc. For someone with already brown skin, what's the safe way to try and get my color back? Just old fashioned tanning?

yeah or you could try a self tanner or lotions.
