Im going on the Carnival Destiny and I wanted to tan a lot when I got there but I'm uncomfortable with showing my body in front of a lot of ppl. Is there a place on the cruise where you can go and tan by yourself?

Thanks!

  1. Most cruise ships have multiple places to lounge and get a tan on ship.  Some will be around the pool area, but then there will be others away from the pool and that is probably your best option to be alone.

  2. There will be people EVERYWHERE on the ship.  It's a cruise - you will never see these people again!  Just enjoy and have fun!!

  3. Trust me. You will be seeing a lot of people who should never even think about putting on a bathing suit but do anyway. Myself being one of them. lol. but actually I feel more comfort in wearing a bathing suit on a cruise ship then anywhere else. There is always someone bigger or less attractive than you wearing one. It makes you feel better about yourself.

  4. I'd suggest the area around the funnel. It used to be designated as the "topless deck" and was off-limits to children and cameras.

While the signage and railing tarps have been removed, I think it still exists on all the Destiny class ships and is out-of-the-way enough that you won't attract much attention. The downside is that it can be windy and you probably won't get any visits from the folks hawking drinks.

You'll get more sun for a longer period than on a balcony but it's not as private.

I do continue to hope that Carnival will see the error of its ways. The railing tarps deflected the wind in addition to blocking the view. That made it a great place to sun and hang out.

  5. There are so many different areas on a cruise ship to lay out and I found many places where I could go just to sit and read a book without people walking by all the time.  Believe me, there are many people walking around who should never be seen wearing a bathing suit, but they will never see you again after the cruise.

Just remember, if you are going down into the Caribbean, you are going to burn very easily.  Be careful and have fun!

  6. There really is no private area to tan unless your room has its own balcony! Just scope out the ship and pick an area that isn't that populated with people to lay out!

  7. Some of the swimming pools at the ends of the ship are far more quiet then the ones in the middle, so go there. remember you can do anything you want within reason as you will never see these people again in your life, so don't worry about not having a perfect body while you are in a swimsuit. Trust me you will see some pretty ugly and fat people on your cruise. You will believe it when you see it.
