I'm going to tanzania and would appreciate any help regarding safety tips. How to avoid getting sick? I took the yellow fever and typhoid vaccines as well as malaria tablets. anything else?

Also, what are the must see places there and anything special to pack?

Thanks!

  1. If you're going on safari, you shouldn't have any worries.  It pays to be careful and follow the rules to drink bottled water and drinks with no ice, etc...  Having said that, we eat salads and brush our teeth with tap water and usually have no problems.  But check out our page on Pepto-Bismol.

When we travel anywhere I always take Pepto-Bismol with us.  My little hubby used to get sick everywhere... and once we started taking Pepto-Bismol as a preventative he has no problems.  We try not to drink the water in some countries, but we eat everything everywhere.  You can check our site for more details:  http://www.mousetourstravels.com/pepto-b...

Here's our page on general travel health tips:   http://www.mousetourstravels.com/interna...  and our page on water safety:  http://www.mousetourstravels.com/is-the-...

We have pages on packing too.  Concentrate on casual and khaki colors and earth tones if you're looking for wildlife.

Happy travels... even if you don't travel the world... just remember that life is a journey... embrace and enjoy it!  http://www.mousetourstravels.com

  2. Hey have fun! I'm going to Zambia so i've been doing some similar research. General health tips seem to be, don't eat raw or under-cooked food. Stick to bottled water and don't put ice cubes in drinks. avoid contact with animals. Take a first aid kit with all the regular things plus re-hydration salts and diarrhea medication. Don't forget the mozzie spray and light weight clothes that cover you up. and sunscreen is a must!

Have you gotten yourself a Lonely Planet guide for Tanzania? they're really expensive but are a great help.

I'm not sure where you're going in Tanzania but something that caught my eye is a balloon flight over serengeti national park... it is pretty expensive though.
