Tao Li and Arhatha Magavi win Women’s 100m butterfly A and B finals: Singapore Long Course Nationals
Tao Li of Swimfast Aquatic Club and Arhatha Magavi of India took home the Women’s 100m butterfly A and B finals at the 7th Singapore Long Course Nationals, held in Singapore, from June 21-26, 2011.
Tao Li came out strongly and nabbed the Women’s 100m butterfly A-final with a victorious time of 58.95 seconds. Li finished first in the preliminary race with a time of 59.55 seconds. To add to her credentials, she improved to top place in her national swimming
rankings.
Meagan Lim secured the second spot in 1 minute and 03.07 seconds, while Ting Wen Quah settled third in 1 minute and 03.75 seconds. Zerlynn Tiang earned the fourth place honours in 1 minute and 03.91 seconds.
Raina Saumi G finished fifth in 1 minute and 05.22 seconds, while Rachel Yeo earned the sixth position in 1 minute and 05.47 seconds. h*i Min Anissa Lye was placed seventh in 1 minute and 07.04 seconds.
On the other hand, Arhatha Magavi of India snagged the Women’s butterfly B final with a winning time of 1 minute and 07.08 seconds. Her preliminary race time was 1 minute and 08.14 seconds.
Priscilla Ong of China earned second place honours in 1 minute and 07.84 seconds, while Wen Xi Natasha Tan of Orchid Country Club wound up third in 1 minute and 08.00 seconds. The fourth spot was secured by Fang Yi Chan of Ace Swim Club in 1 minute and 08.31
seconds.
Khar Yi Chin of Orchid Country Club captured fifth spot in 1 minute and 09.45 seconds, whereas, Boon Yin Annis Loy of Ace Swim Club finished sixth in 1 minute and 10.31 seconds. Wen Li Vanessa Chong of Singapore settled seventh in 1 minute and 10.49 seconds,
while Rachel Lum of China surprisingly finished eighth in minute and 11.70 seconds.
The Indian swimmer was satisfied with her individual performance in the championship, as the win in the 100m butterfly B final moved her to top spot in the national swimming rankings of the current year.
