My pancake type air compressor outlet (1/4 inch pipe) broke off at the tank.

This pipe out let is copmposed of gadges & compressor control box & air hose connector.

So to repair i will have to re drill for a standard 1/4 inch pipe, then re tap or re thread the hole for a new 1/4 IN pipe.

My question is what size drill bit to use AND what size tap to use for re theading purposes.

Thank You.

  1. JUST USE AN E-Z OUT TO GET THE REMAINING PIECE OF PIPE !

  2. Pipe threads are tapered. I have included a link to a site with the sizes you will need. Just click on the link.

  3. use a 11/64 drill bit and a 1/4 national pipe thread tap. drill and tap with the compressor running so that the filings dont end up falling inside. they will eventually end up in your tools

  4. I doubt you'll be able to re-tap the hole if you don't get the piece out. Get a 1/4" internal pipe extractor and remove the piece.
