I have one of those tapes with a long wire so you can pop in the cassette and use it to play your mp3 player. It was fine for a year and suddenly three days ago it won't play or eject, just gives me "Er8." Or maybe its "ErB" which I assume means Error #8. How do I get the tape to eject and how do I make sure this doesn't happen again? I should note its summer here and its usually very warm in the car. Could that have something to do with it?

  1. Save yourself the hassel of having to take tape out and worry about it happening again, just buy a cd player. You can get a cheap one at Walmart that will give you better sound quality than what you're getting now. As for your tape disfunction, dirt, dust, and/or heat will cause ER8. The heads aren't getting a clean read off the "cassette".

  2. You may be able to pry it out from the bottom of the tape. I would just buy a CD player that has a mp3 jack in the front to make it easier for you.

Basically, the only way I have dealt with cassettes jammed in the player is to hit eject and pry on the bottom of the tape to see if it will release. if it does, you would not put another tape in for fear of this happening again. I dont want to tell you to buy something that you dont want to buy, but when a tape deck eats your tape and wont spit it back out, you should probably replace it.
