Tape to computer?

can u put a cassett tape onto the computer if so how thanks

  1. You need a wire that has the correct connector for your source component (stereo/walkman).  If you are using a stereo it will be an RCA to 1/8" mini pin (looks like walkman/ipod connector).  If you are using a walkman you will need an 1/8" mini to 1/8" mini.  Radioshack and the like carry both of them.

    You then put the tape into your source.  Hook the wire from the source to the sound input on your computer.  Use whatever recording software you like (WAV editors that record are a big help later) and start it recording.  Hit play on the source.  When the tape is done, simply stop both.  Then use a an editor to break it up into individual tracks.

    If you are talking about a video cassette, then you need to clarify your question since that is an entirely different process.


  2. there is a device you can hook your VCR to, and plug the device into the USB port to capture video and audio.

    Don't know what it's called, but I've seen them at Circuit City.  They're probably everywhere.
