Question:

Tape very stuck on concrete floor?

We're trying to clean up our basement, and there's a large amount of work tape (tuct tape- like the clear packing tape you use on parcels but stronger and red) stuck to the concrete floor. We're having a h**l of a time getting it off- is there anything (like a solvent?) that we could put on it to make it easier to get off without damaging the floor? (leaving stains, etc?)

Thanks in advance!

  1. This may sound crazy, but try a water based paint remover.  This will have no odor and no caustic problems and will also have water cleanup.  good luck.

  2. Try peanut butter.  Any time i get something new and it has a sticker on it and it wount come off i always get out the peanut butter.  it also works for gum in hair.

  3. First I would try a heat gun or a blow dryer. The heat should help soften the sticky part so you can pull the tape up. Then use rubbing alcohol or a product called goo gone. It is sold at wal-mart where I'm from. Hope this helps.

  4. You can take a small amount of baby oil and gently rub it all over the tape.  Leave it for about ten minutes, and then use a scraper to lift it off.  The baby oil should permeate the tape and help counteract the glue.  Of course, you need to very thoroughly wipe the baby oil up with hot water afterwards, because even a little bit is very slippery.
