Tapping cards in magic the gathering?

when you first put down a card do you tap all the land your useing to bring the card out and the card itself or do you tap the land to bring it out and keep the card you brought out untapped... and can you use a card right away after bringing it out or do you have to wait till your next turn

  1. when you play something, unless it says not to, you play it untapped. also, if its a creature, they have what's called "summoning sickness", which means, unless they have haste or are unaffected by summoning sickness, they cant attack or use tap abilities the turned they are summoned. if you are playing an artifact thats not a creature that does have a tap ability, it can be used the turn you play it


  2. you tap the lands you need in order to put an enemy out. that enemy cant attack the same turn you bring it out unless it has "haste". this ability allows enemies to attack right away otherwise all monsters have "summoning sickness"
