Tara Goss and Garrett Cadotte outshine in swimming events -
High School State Championships
Tara Goss of Millar West and Garrett Cadotte of Ralston/Gross served notice of their talent by outshining their rivals in the Girls and Boys 100yard butterfly playoff respectively on last day of the Nebraska High School State Championships for Boys and Girls
in Lincoln on February 28.
Goss encountered tough competition from Natasha Posthuma of Omaha Burke throughout the butterfly discipline, but with her irresistible efforts, she gathered gold medal of the event.
She remained slightly ahead of her closest competitor on the finishing wall and posted a time of 59.45 seconds for gold medal. With her intellectual efforts, she remained just 0.08 seconds ahead of Posthuma, who completed her sprint in a time of 59.53 seconds
for silver medal.
She was followed by Colleen Bernal of Skutt/Mt. Michael, who was 0.26 seconds slower from her foregoing competitor and clocked a time of 59.79 seconds for bronze medal. The third position holder was trailed by Kacy Thurman of Millard West, who was 0.38 seconds
behind and ended her swim in a time of 1 minute and 00.17 seconds for fourth position.
Subsequently, Cadotte demonstrated his phenomenal efforts in the Boys 100yard butterfly, where he pocketed gold medal of the event by concluding his race in a time 50.61 seconds. He was almost 0.50 seconds faster from his following swimmer, Bob Glover of
Millard South, who snatched silver medal of the race by submitting a nice time of 51.18 seconds.
Glover remained 0.72 seconds away from his closest competitor, Ryan Tate of Creighton Prep, who stepped on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by producing an effort of 51.90 seconds for bronze medal. Tate was considerably ahead of Lincoln Southeast’s Eliot
Appleget, who stayed almost half body length slower from him. Appleget was 0.59 seconds behind Tate and transpired on the finishing end with the timing of 52.49 seconds for fourth position.
The position holders received a huge round of applause from the audience for their scintillating forms in the butterfly discipline while they received their accolades at the prize distribution ceremony of the championship. Furthermore, the session ended
after the completion of 100yard discipline.
