I want to get either a scorpion or a tarantula. Have you ever owned either of them. If so, which do you reccomend?

  1. I have both.

Neither scorpions or tarantulas should be handled. Not for the sake of the human - but for the health and safety of the bug. Handling stresses them out and leads to illness and injuries. If you want a pet you can play with get a rat.

The care of both are similar so that's a moot point.

Scorpions are more active, they make a better showcase piece than a big fuzzy spider. It's said that a happy tarantula is a still tarantula. A well cared for and fed spider is going to find a comfy spot and nap all day (not really but what I am getting at here is that they are the closest thing to a pet rock you can get minus the rock) Ts however, coem in a better variety of colours and patterns.

Personally I prefer the tarantulas. I have 3 scorps and over 70 Ts...

It really coems down to what you like the look of better.

  2. NEITHER!!!!!!!!! yeah you watch one day, you are going to wake up with a poisonous spider on your face, and then you might re-think the whole thing. Or the scorpion could escape, and sting you.

    have fun!!!!!!! =D

  3. A tarantula is better  :)

  4. I have never owned either, but tarantulas are fuzzier... I've always liked tarantulas better than scorpions anyway. I would imagine that a tarantula would be less likely to turn on you - you don't risk a finger by petting its back like you would with a scorpion, lol.

  5. tarantula.

well unelss you wanna get one of those scorpions that glow in blacklight....

but tarantula cause they are more....i guess ill just the word affectionate lol cant think of what else to call it really.

  6. tarantula definitely. you can hold a tarantula, but a scorpion will always feel threatened and sting.

  7. tarantula

  8. I would definitly have to say a tarantula. I own one and they are pretty friendly. But I would have to recommend the Rose Hair tarantula. They are more docile than others I have seen. Scorpions on the other hand will sting and bite much more often as well as more painfully. If your looking for a pet to pick up than I would recommend the tarantula.
