  1. Well, first of all it won't want to eat for at least a week, because it will be stressed from being moved from one environment to another.  Tarantulas can easily go a week without food, and they have been known to fast for *up to a year*, especially Chilean Roses, the most common tarantula in the trade.  Try to feed it a couple of store bought crickets and if it doesn't eat them, remove them and try again in a week.

Your description of the tarantula is kinda confusing and vague.  It is not ringing any bells with tarantula species I have seen.  I would like to see a picture of it and I can help you from there.

READ THIS SITE; general care of tarantulas with brief info sheets on individual species.

I strongly advise you get this book and read through it;  "Tarantulas and Other Arachnids" by Samuel D. Marshall;  You might have to order it but it will tell you so much about tarantula care.

Amazon.com has a good deal towards the bottom of the page to also get "The Tarantula Keeper's Guide" by Stan and Marquerite Schultz for a total of 20$.  These two books will make you into an instant tarantula expert if read completely through.  I have both books and they are priceless to the tarantula owner.

  2. Don't expect for your spider to eat right off the bat, esp. after just being bought and moved. It needs time to settle into its' new home and feel safe & comfortable.

As for the white spot; it could be a normal marking for that species or poss. a sign of a past injury. Examine the spider well for any external parasites. (Not handling it, just closely viewing)

There are many awesome taran. sites out there. I suggest checking out the American Tarantula Society first and going from there.

Good Luck with your spidey. :)

  3. Depending on when the T was last fed, s/he might not eat for 2-3 days. It will also take a while for him/her to settle in so just give it time.

RE. The white spots - This can mean many things like: Disease, your T's specie, or a sign of moulting.

Here is also a good website for T's as pets:
