Tariq Too to seize the opportunity to score in the Betfred Victoria Cup at Ascot
Twenty four contenders will be competing in the Betfred Victoria Cup - which will cover a distance of 7 furlongs on a surface that has been labelled soft.
The mega-event is scheduled to take place at Ascot on 12th May, 2012, where the runners will compete for the purse of £52,913.
With a line-up this extensive, it is difficult to say who will win, but the ones with the best chances are Tariq Too, Pastoral Player and King of Jazz.
Tariq Too, trained by Amy Weaver, will enter the race as a favourite with a winning chance of 8-1.
Since his career began, the five-year-old gelding has triumphed in four races and a victory today will give him the fifth one of his career.
The son of Kyllachy, out of mare, Tatora, ended his previous race on a good note, as he defeated, Valencha by 2 ¼ lengths in the TurfTV For Betting Shops Bonus Stakes (Handicap) at Goodwood on 11th September, 2011.
This year, the chestnut gelding came back with the same fervour and maintained his composure throughout in the Market Cross Jewellers Handicap at Thirsk on 21st April, 2012 riding under, George Baker, he defeated Kiwi Bay by
2 ¼ lengths.
Owned by Bringloe Clarke Spain Hensby Partridge, the gelding looks in good enough shape, ready to complete the first hat-trick of his racing career.
King Of Jazz, son of Acclamation, out of Grand Slam Maria, delivered a solid performance in his seasonal debut, as he stood third in the New William Hill iPhone App Handicap at Doncaster on 1st April, 2012, where he lost the
race by 2 lengths to winner, Colonel Mak.
Entering with odds of 11 to 1 from post 5, the Michael Bell trained bay gelding has an opportunity to improve his standing in this race.
Pastoral Player, trained by Hughie Morrison for owners, The Pursuits Partnership, will also race with the odds of 11 to 1.
The five-year-old bay gelding will be racing in his first race of the season, but his previous victory at Ascot has given his connections some confidence.
The son of Pastoral Pursuits, out of mare Copy-Cat, was ridden by jockey, Darryll Holland, who led him to victory over Smarty Socks by 2 ½ lengths in the Totescoop6 Challenge Cup (Heritage Handicap) at Ascot on 1st October,
2011.
It seems that the victory belongs to, Tariq Too ,who will not miss the opportunity to take the race. He will be followed closely by Pastoral Player and King Of Jazz.
