Valery Karpin returned to Spartak Moscow as their new boss six months after being replaced by Unai Emery. The club allowed the 43-year-old to make an emotional comeback at Luzhniki stadium following the team’s disappointing results

on Friday.

However, Tarkhanov believes that Luciano Spalletti’s wards will find it difficult to win against the Moscow-based club this time around as the hosts will be more motivated following Karpin’s return.
“I think Spartak are favourites with regards to the upcoming league meeting against Zenit as they will play the match at home especially after their panicking defeat against Dynamo Moscow.”
“The arrival of Karpin will give the players an extra motivation especially in this game. I think they will be more composed and organized on Friday.”
"I know Zenit are higher class opponents and are stronger if we compare their players. But I still think that the emotions of players can help their team. The team with a higher level of motivation, concentration and skill of the
players will win.” The 58-year-old was quoted as saying.
Speaking on Emery’s departure, Tarkhanov lamented the situation and said that the Moscow-based club should have given more time to the European famed manager in order to alter the situation.
