Aleksandr Tarkhanov has welcomed Fabio Capello’s decision to play a different line-up in the upcoming qualifying round match against Azerbaijan on Tuesday
With most of the senior Russian national team squad members including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello looks set to play youngsters
in the upcoming match.
The Italian tactician, who replaced d**k Advocaat as Russia’s manager during this summer, has been praised for his bold and beautiful selection decisions prior to the World Cup qualifying matches.
The former Real Madrid boss included the controversy-hit Zenit St. Petersburg central midfielder, Igor Denisov, and shocked the world by excluding some of the senior figures in the team.
Capello excluded the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergei-Semak-c32976 and Oleg Shatov from the squad for the qualifying matches against Northern Ireland, Israel and
Portugal.
FC Khimki head coach, Aleksandr Tarkhanov, has urged Capello to include CSKA Moscow’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-Dzagoev-c4249 in the starting line-ups in their fourth qualifying match against Azerbaijan at Luzhniki stadium on Tuesday.
Dzagoev, who remained an unused substitute on the bench during Russia’s back-to-back wins against Israel and Portuguese national team, completed 58 minutes in their opening group stage game against the Irish team last month.
Tarkhanov revealed that Dzagoev has a decent chance to impress Capello if he wants himself to play in the remaining qualifying rounds of the cup competition.
“I have no doubt that the Russian team will win against Azerbaijan. I think Azerbaijan will play an organized game with a lot of commitment and resistance. It is clear that we are stronger opponent in the duel on individual level
but we should not underestimate our opponents. I think we will win 3-0 against them.”
“I think that Capello will release Dzagoev this time around. I think he should give him some minutes on the pitch for increasing his confidence.” The former Kuban Krasnodar manager was quoted as saying.
As things stand, Russia are at the top-spot on their respective group table with nine points.
