Russian national football team will take on Czech Republic in their opening game of the upcoming Euro 2012 group stages at Municipal Stadium Wroclaw. Before that, they will play their third and last friendly match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926
at Zurich's Letzigrund on Friday.
The Russian team have drawn two of their last three friendly matches, and have one more game left to find the winning form ahead of the European tournament.
Russia have been placed in one of the most difficult groups, which includes Greece, Poland and Czech republic.
FC Khimki head coach, Aleksandr Tarkhanov, has warned the Russian national team against complacency, insisting that Czech Republic are a decent side. He has conceded that Russia need to win the upcoming match, if they are to get
a flying start to the continental tournament.
“I think Russia are the favourites to progress from the group stage. The first match of Euro 2012, where the Russians to fight against Czechs, holds immense importance and will be very difficult.”
“Czech Republic are a nasty opponent. The opponents will play the opening match defensively. They have decent defenders in the team. I have kept an eye on them for some time. I have noticed that they like to play on the counter-attack.”
The former CSKA Moscow manager was quoted as saying.
Michal Bilek, the manager, has included few top defenders in the squad. The likes of Copenhagen’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michal-Kadlec-c25422 and Spartak Moscow’s Marek Suchy are in electrifying form at the moment.
Bilek, meanwhile, has placed the UEFA Champions League winning goalkeeper, Peter Czech, at the gates.
Tarkhanov has urged d**k Advocaat to play CSKA’s Igor Akinfeev in place of Zenit’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vyacheslav-Malafeev-c36502 in the opening game of the European tournament. He has praised Akinfeev, insisting that the prolific shot-stopper can cope up
with the pressure in Euros.
“I hope Advocaat will keep Akinfeev at the goalkeeping.” He concluded.
The 57-year-old conceded that Akinfeev has impressed him while playing the friendly match against Lithuania.
