Question:

Tarot Card Reading or Signs reading is a fake?

My friend mentioned something about Tarot cards or astrology being fake. For example, lets say you were born in a certain month and you were a Libra. It mentions you have the following characteristic: caring, nice to others. Then when the person reads the statements, they will think of a time when this really happened even if it happened once and so what they read they feel is true.. much like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Is this true? How can I counter this argument?

  1. Well, I have to agree with your friend. Astrology is one of the most debunked of fortune telling methods. If you cut out a forecast for any sign from the paper and give it to others with different signs, then, if they believe in astrology, they will tend to accept it - this has been done as an experiment very often.

Also keep in mind that the position of the stars in our sky changes over time - did you know that all the dates attributed to the signs are now wrong by about a whole month? Yes, whatever you think is your star sign it's the wrong one!

With regards to tarot cards, you should keep in mind that these are not occult objects but in actual fact, playing cards. They were created in the 15th century by adding a fifth suit of card to the regular playing pack. These extra cards took as their theme a traditional Christian triumph procession and were the first trumps in card games. There is no causal connection between the future and the dealing of some playing cards and divination with them is no different in principle to reading tea leaves.

  2. When looking at astrology, one has to take into consideration the WHOLE chart and not just the Sun sign. Newspaper & magazine horoscopes are too general to bring any real advice or truth to the person reading it.

Speaking from study and experience- I can say NO to the idea of a self fullfiling prophecy.

    Here is my 'proof'-

In my chart, I found a indication of being drawn to Capricorns and their opposites, Cancer. This was found by way of the position of my Sun and my Moon. At the time that I discovered this, I had a handful of Cancer friends who where more dear to me than other friends of other signs. I also already had relationships with 4 Capricorns. Two of those relationships producing children.

Again- this is what had already occured in my life, prior to studing my chart.

Another solid aspect that occured, that could ABSOLUTLY NOT be self-prophisized, was the death of one of those partners I had a relationship with. My Venus is in Scorpio and aspects Mars in a way that indicates an early death of one of my partners, and so it happened, and it happened prior to learning of this aspect in my chart.

Even if I HAD known of it before, how could I create that future and why would I want to anyway.

I know of two astrologers that can see death in a chart- one of them informed their brother in hopes of stopping the death, it happened anyway.

    Then there is this:

Evangeline Adams, one of the world greatest astrologers went on the stand in court and provided some extremely accurate and detailed information on a chart belonging to an unknown person.

She prooved herself as an astrologer to be the real deal that day in court.

Read up on her, she will be useful in your debate.

Tarot is not fake either, the person reading the cards may be a fake.

But again, my expereince and study has provided me with the knowing that Tarot is in fact very real when used with the right intentions and the right education.

If tarot is fake, then how can it be explained that I can do a reading for a total stranger and the only information that they give to me is the question they ask and then I can tell them exactly what is going on in their lives? No, I'm not reading body language, they are either in a chat room or on the phone, or I even do email readings, so there is NO WAY that I can 'get' something from them through their words or actions. In fact, I tell my clients, 'shh....don't tell me anything, you will distract and influence me.'

The LESS I know the better the reading.

It sounds to me that your friend has not had the expereince with tarot to make such statements and they are just repeating what others have told to them.

Learn tarot, get good at it and give your freind a reading. That will change their mind-LOL.

I have done readings for a few who believed tarot was BS. My readings made them rethink thier position on tarot being fake.

  3. Hello Lilly

Tarot & Astrology are 2 very different subjects.

Astrology rests on 'individual' charts, based on time, place & DOB, it is the alignment of many planets & lots more that tells of someone's personality & potential.

If your friend is referring to what is found in news papers every day, they have to be a generalisation, so for fun.
