I usually buy French roasted or blend coffee. This time I tried Sam's Choice's Arabic coffee. It tasted really strange to me, a little bit tart and less aromatic. Is it due to Arabic type of coffee or Sam's Choice?

  1. it may be the brand, but you can add different falvors of cream to help.

  2. Put a few grains of salt in the coffee filter with the coffee when you brew it. I mean a 1/2 of a 1/2 of a pinch!!!!! It takes the edge off.

  3. It could be due to either. Typically French Roasting of most coffee remove a lot of the coffee types unique flavors.

I am placing a link below to a company that describes not only the coffee types and their country of origin but also give a 'taste' description within the link to each coffee offered.

After navigating to a specific coffee the owner provides a little data on the location from where the coffee came from (farm, region, coop) a roast recommendation and at the lower right of the page he provides a 'flavor wheel' that provides the distinct tastes in that coffee.

You don't have to be a roaster to benefit from the info.

Also, most of the coffees on today's market are Arabica. And they are usually the 'milder' of the coffees. Robusta is the other large quantity coffee and is typically more bitter as they typically contain more caffeine.
