Tarun Nethula and Neil Wagner to feature in Kiwi XI - Cricket News Update
New Zealand spinner, Tarun Nethula, and left-arm bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Wagner-c79182, have earned a chance to feature in the practice three-day game against WICB President’s XI which commences in Antigua on Friday.
The Kiwis are led by Ross Taylor, who is hopeful on the duo to press a claim for selection for the upcoming first Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TG-Southee-c2659,
with the former two nursing a quad strain.
"It's a good opportunity for the players to get out there and spend time on their feet and it's not often you get to play a warm-up game on a ground where you will be playing the Test match," Taylor said.
"We're still undecided on the balance of the side for the Test series. Tarun has come in and spin is going to be a big part of how we play this warm-up game and the Test match. Hopefully he goes well and makes our job a lot harder when we come to pick the
Test team."
New Zealand has further opted to play Daniel Vettori, who has joined the team following his extended break. The veteran left-armer will be hoping to get some game time under his belt, while further helping his young compatriot Nethula to make progress under
his guidance.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 later went on to express his views on the 26-year-old quick, Wagner, who would feature for the first time. The captain thinks that the aggressive seamer will be an exciting prospect, considering his impressive domestic record.
The left-arm quick has taken 235 wickets in 54 First-Class appearances but has yet to debut in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 colours. With 88 First-Class wickets in 31 games, the leggie, Nethula, has already featured for the Black Caps in the limited-overs arena and this
remains his chance to become a long term replacement for Vettori in the longer format.
