Tashkent Open & Korea Open tennis competition
The top seeded tennis player Alexandra Dulgheru has reached into the second round of the Tashkent Open tennis tournament after defeating Kurumi Nara from Japan in a total of two sets on Tuesday. The final match score was 6-2, 7-5.
The world number twenty-seven, Alexandra who is the highest ranked top seed in the twelve year history of the competition, is looking for her second WTA Tour trophy this year.  The professional tennis player from Romania captured her second career crown
in Warsaw, during the month of May this year.
Her compatriot tennis player, Monica Niculescu, who is seeded fifth to win the title at the Tashkent Open, also progressed with a three setter victory over Zarina Diyas, who is a sixteen year qualifier from Kazakhstan. The final match score was 6-3, 6-7
(2), 6-2.
All other seeded contenders in action also advanced.
The second seeded Uzbek, Akgul Amanmuradova toppled Eirini Georgatou from Greece in a total of two sets on Tuesday. The final match score was 6-4, 6-3.
Akgul, who was a finalist back in 2005 as well as last year, broke decisively during the tenth game of the opening set. In the following set, Akgul prevented a total of four breakpoints and the world number 236 Eirini saved six before dropping serve during
the eighth game of yesterday’s clash in Tashkent.
Anna Chakvetadze, a third seeded Russian, Magdalena Rybarikova from Slovakia and the seventh seed Alla Kudryavtseva all triumphed in their opening round clashes.
Meanwhile, the Indian tennis star, Sania Mirza crashed out of the Tashkent Open tennis tournament as a result of her first round defeat at the hands of Ekaterina Bychkova from Russia on Tuesday. The final match score was 1-6 6-4 5-7.
She recently has captured a doubles trophy at the China Open however there was no end to Mirza’s poor singles run as the world number 125 went down in a three setter clash to the Russian who is ranked number 175 by the Women Tennis Association. The match
concluded in a time period of two hours on Tuesday.
Mirza, who is the wife of a Pakistani cricket player, Shoaib Malik, looked rusty in the opening set as she lost it in less than half an hour and was broken by her Russian foe in the third, fifth as well as seventh game.
In the following set, Mirza played well and successfully won the set after being down at 2-4. The professional tennis player from India raced to a lead of 5-2 in the final set, however, Ekaterina bounced back breaking her in the eight, tenth and twelfth
game of the match.
Mirza had a total of two match points during the eleventh game, however, Ekaterina smashed an ace to come back into the clash. During the twelfth game, the Indian had a chance to equal the scores and force a tie-break however; she double faulted on two occasions
to hand victory to the Russian.
Mirza, who is partnering Marai Elena Camerin from Italy, will begin her doubles campaign in the championship on Wednesday.
In some other action in Seoul, rain delayed the opening round play at the Korea Open tennis competition on Tuesday. A total of twelve singles clashes were scheduled for yesterday however they will now be contested today.
Just four opening round clashes have been completed, as Ksenia Pervak, Ekaterina Makarova and Alisa Kleybanova joined native Ukrainian Elena Baltacha as champions on Monday.
Today's schedule features Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Nadia Petrova as well as the former top ranked tennis player Ana Ivanovic.
Nadia is the top seed and will face Jarmila Groth, a rising tennis star from Australia, who won her first WTA singles trophy on Sunday in Guangzhou.
