Tasitiocht carrying fairly obvious chance in Thomastown Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park
Sunday’s Thomastown Maiden Hurdle has attracted a good number of juveniles at Gowran Park. There are many powerful contestants in the line-up, but Tasitiocht looks to be the most intriguing one.
Willie Mullins’ charge recently did very well in Flat races, and has every chance of making up into a useful novice. The 5-year-old can easily win this 2-mile 4-furlong event.
Including Mullins’ trainee, a total number of 20 horses have attracted towards this big meeting. It carries a handy cash prize worth €6,900. The officials are due to start the affair at 14:15 GMT.
There are many good reasons for Tasitiocht’s support at Gowran Park. Owned by C. C. R. Racing Syndicate, the bay mare made her debut in April, when securing the runner-up place in a very tough competition at Punchestown.
A fine act right at the very start of career boosted up her confidence to a great extent. In the hands of Mr P. W. Mullins, she perpetuated her good work to ensure a couple of good victories later on.
After beating Dale Street by six and a half lengths at Kilbeggan in June, she recorded another triumph the following month. The spectators at Cork saw her winning the August Bank Holiday Racing INH Flat Race by 5½ lengths.
The daughter of Oscar was equally impressive on her latest start at Galway. Only lack of luck prevented her from striking hat-trick, as she missed the top rank just by half a length in the Fr. Breen Memorial (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race.
After a few a classy acts, the Kenneth Parkhill-bred is in very good shape. Mullins would have trained her well for this sort of journey. So, no one can rule out her chances despite the fact that it will be her first outing over hurdles.
Fine Presentation is also not without a chance. However, the question is whether the going will aid or hinder. Ginger Genie is also good enough to play a part in this contest. The rest of the pack is unlikely to make any significant impact.
Tasitiocht looks to be the strongest contender in the field of 20 runners. Her chances of continuing the progressive journey over hurdles are clearly bright. Good luck to all the horses.
