Tasmania ease to innings victory over Western Australia in Sheffield Shield
Tasmania crushed http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 (WA) by an innings and 129 runs in their Sheffield shield match at the WACA in Perth. The visitors had a 266-run first innings lead, and WA were bowled-out for just 137 runs in their second innings.
The wicket at Perth is traditionally known for its pace and bounce, but there has been a significant change in the nature of the track over the past few years. However, there was still enough support for the bowlers in the wicket, which allowed them to dominate
the game.
The hosts knew that it was always going to be difficult to bounce back in the match after a strong batting performance from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Harris-c1897 started the innings for their team cautiously and played defensive
cricket from the very first ball. This allowed Tasmania to attack the hosts.
Robinson was the first man to be dismissed after he had scored just four runs. His dismissal brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Towers-c1858 to the middle. Harris failed to get going yet again and was out after scoring just 10 runs. WA Captain Marcus North came out to bat next. However,
the star player wasn’t looking to score runs, and instead just kept on defending the ball. This defensive approach by the WA batsmen didn’t help them at all and they kept on losing wickets regularly without adding too many runs to the total.
Towers looked good for his 21 runs but was unable to carry on and make a big score. He got out with the total on 58 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Voges-c925 joined his captain. However, Voges failed to open his account and was sent back to the pavilion after facing just five balls.
North scored just 15 runs in his innings before he threw his wicket away. Wicketkeeper batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Nathan-Coulter-Nile-c2070 were out for 1, 9 and 3 respectively and the hosts were struggling at 76 for 8.
There was some resistance from the tail-enders as they stretched the score to 137. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Beer-c1949 was unbeaten on 19 when he ran out of partners at the
other end.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Faulkner-c1643 grabbed two wickets each for their team.
