Tasmania overcame New South Wales (NSW) comfortably by an innings and 70 runs in their Sheffield Shield match at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. NSW were bowled out for 209 runs in their second innings on day-three of the match.
Tasmania’s first-innings lead proved to be too much for the visiting NSW batsmen. They were bundled out for a paltry 74 runs in their first innings, after being put into bat. In reply, Tasmania amassed 353 runs to take a massive first innings lead of 279 runs.
Although the wicket had eased a lot since the first day, the pressure was too much to handle for the NSW batsmen, and none of them managed to make a fifty plus score in either innings of the match. Hughes was the first man to be dismissed after scoring 26 runs. He looked good in the middle, but was unable to stay at the crease for too long. His opening partner Maddinson also managed to score in the 20’s. He was dismissed after scoring 20 runs off 65 balls.

Maher finished the match with eight wickets, but Nick Kruger was declared the man of the match. The opening batsman from Tasmania scored a brilliant 150 in his team’s only innings, and helped the hosts build a solid first-innings lead.
