  2. Depends on what you want:

Australia's smallest state, the island state, capital is Hobart first european settlement in 1804, named after Abel Tasman, proved to be an island by Bass & Flinders.

    Main industries farming, mining, tourism

Famous Tasmanins Errol Flynn, Ricky Ponting

20% of the state is taken by the sout west world heritage wilderness

    etc etc

  3. Tasmania is a beautiful place to visit !

It's very green and mountainy unlike the rest of Australia.

I really felt like I was arriving in a different country when landing in Taz.

You might spot the devil if you're lucky :) or a platypus ! I was lucky enough to spot a platypus and I didn't know it was so small !

I don't know what kind of info you need...

I personally flew to Hobart from Melbourne. My friend and I rented a car and went all around the island. It took us 2 weeks which is plenty of time. I think one more week would be perfect but unfortunately we had to fly home as our visas were expiring... but anyway...

Ahh... i'm getting all nostalgic now...

Hope your friend enjoys it as much as I did !

  4. Hello!

Not sure what you wanna know but i'll throw a few things in!

    the population is almost 500,000

    Abel Tasman Discovered it.

It used to be called Van Diemens land.

it's Australia's only island state, separated from the mainland by Bass Strait.

It's capital city is Hobart, and was founded in 1803 as a penal (convict) colony. it is Australia's second oldest city (after sydney) and 11th largest in Aus w/ a population of over 200,000 people.

Northern Tassie has the second larget city, Launceston.

Tasmania has Australia's oldest town, Georgetown.

it has a really mountainous interior and flat coastlines.

It can reach well into 30 degrees celcius of a summer and reaches freezing point (0) in winter.

It had native aboriginals but sadly there are no full blood ones  left. The last was truganini who died in 1979.

Tasmania is quite eco friendly and self sufficient. It runs off power provided by the hydro (water) and wind turbines which are situated on a farm in the north west of Tas.

It has Bay of fires on the east coast which was voted second best beach in the world because of it's white sand.

Our state os governed by our Premier who has just resigned, our new premier is David Bartlett.

Tasmania has two native animals. The Tasmanian tiger and devil. The tiger is believed to be extinct but many people believe they have seen it since. The devil is a small black and white creature which are currently threatened by a facial tumor which has wiped out 50% of the population already.

Tasmania is not touristy in that it doesn't have theme parks and stuff. It has wildlife parks and scenic drives, ruins (port arthur, risdon, richmond)

uuummmm... I don't really know what you wanna know!

    hope this helps =)
