Tasmania v Queensland – Sheffield Shield, 2012/13 (12th match) – Match Update
A fierce bowling attack, coupled with the batting heroics of Usman Khawaja, proved to be the strengths of the Queensland Bulls during the 12th match of the ongoing Sheffield Shield, and the team went on to claim victory over the Tasmania Tigers
by a margin of an innings and 123 runs, at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, in their first-class match from November 9 to 11.
After the first day of play was lost owing to a tornado warning and incessant rain, the Bulls won the toss on day 2 and elected to field first, after which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Cameron-Gannon-c49154 (7-2-25-2) went on to bowl
the Tigers out for a meagre total. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/TD-Paine-c2652 (10) were the only ones who registered double-digit scores – the rest were unable to put up much of a fight, and the Tigers eventually
found themselves all out at a meagre 95.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Usman-Khawaja-c2729, who came in at number 3 and contributed a vital 138. The rest of the batsmen managed to get starts, but were unable to convert them into anything substantial. Cutting remained
a stand-out performer, being the highest scorer from the middle and lower order, with 40 off 30 deliveries.
Tasmania’s bowlers made valiant attempts to compensate for their team’s shocking batting performance, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jackson-Munro-Bird-c65187 (21-4-77-2). However, Queensland managed
to make it to a decent 360 before they were all out on the third day of play.
The Bulls then proceeded to make quick work of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854, with Gannon (21-9-53-6) remaining the most prominent, while Feldman (14-8-26-2) and Cutting (12-4-20-2) chipped in with two scalps each.
The Tigers continued to display poor form in their second innings, with only five batsmen managing to reach double figures – Mark Cosgrove (13), Doolan (21), Bailey (21), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aiden-Blizzard-c958 (49), and Faulkner (14). The rest remained uninspiring, and on the third
day Tasmania were bowled for 142, with the Bulls going on to secure a massive victory, by an innings and 123 runs.
