Tasmania’s Brent Munday will prepare Fiji National Badminton team for the Pacific Games 2011
The Fiji Badminton Federation has hired Brent Munday of Tasmania to prepare the Fiji national badminton team for the Pacific Games 2011. The Tasmanian coach has an age-long experience and expertise in the coaching field, and has participated in many international
events around the world. He is expected to join the Fiji badminton team on April 25, 2011.
Brent was the coach of Australian junior team in the Oceania Junior Championship 2011, which was held in Fiji. He is also a selector and satellite coach of Australian Badminton and has represented Tasmania in numerous events. The Tasmanian is currently coaching
the national team of senior shuttlers in Tasmania.
Munday will be assisting Fiji Badminton Federation in the selection and preparation of shuttlers. The final squad for the Pacific Games will be decided on May 15. The selection will be made in the trials which will be conducted by the Badminton Federation
itself. The officials of the governing sports body are very optimistic for their team’s success in the event as they have high expectations from Brent.
Violet Williams, the section manager of the Badminton Federation said that the officials are quite enthused having hired the services of Brent and they have no doubt that the coach's vast experience will help the national shuttlers prepare better for the
event.
The national badminton shuttlers of Fiji have many international tournaments ahead, including the home event of Fiji International 2011, which will kick off on May 6, at the Yat Sen Hall. Many international players from different countries including, Italy,
Turkey and Iran are expected to participate in this event.
Badminton Federation is providing best training facilities to the players and the services of Brent will produce better results in the upcoming international events. It is expected that a two-week training program will be designed for the shuttlers and after
two weeks, their performance will be evaluated in the trials. The best performers will book their place in the national squad for the Pacific Games 2011.
