Tata Open India International Challenge 2012: Sheng Jie Yang tames Prakash Jolly in qualifying round
Chinese Taipei’s talented player Sheng Jie Yang found a good start in Men’s Singles qualifying round when he toppled India’s Prakash Jolly at the Tata Open India International Challenge 2012 on Wednesday, December 12, in India.
The young Sheng Jie, who has been struggling really hard to make his presence felt at international stage, played with terrific speed and remained successful in winning against Prakash after a good fight.
Taipei shuttler had to put in extra effort in the opening set and he took it with a close margin. However, he maintained his focus in the arena and took the second game with a reasonable difference on the board.
On the contrary, Prakash failed to play positive badminton when it mattered most as he lost his focus in ending points of opening set and lost it. He failed to maintain his rhythm in the second game and crashed out without taking any set.
The impressive speed and attacking strokes of Sheng Jie assisted him to take control of the pace right from the initial points of opening game.
The tempo of the rallies was quite fast as the Taipei shuttler played with aggression on court and stayed comfortable in placing his shots in right areas.
Sheng Jie worked really hard until the end of opening half but he could not construct a comfortable lead as his Indian challenger remained close on score board.
However, Prakash failed to stay focused in the ending points in the concluding half of opening set and he conceded many points by executing negative strokes.
Whereas, Sheng Jie was very calm and composed in the arena as he did not take pressure and remained successful in winning the opening game with a close 21-19 total on score board.
In the second game, the local shuttler worked hard to play positive badminton but he could not create any trouble for his Taipei rival who was on a different level. Nevertheless, the score remained close from both sides until the end of opening half.
In the ending part of second game, the lofty Sheng Jie controlled the pace of rallies by working extra hard and he managed to bag the second set with a reasonable 21-17 score on the board.
The impressive Sheng Jie won this qualifying round battle in a decent way as he took just 25 minutes to stamp his mark over Prakash with a margin of 21-19 and 21-17.
