Swansea City defender, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Tate, has revealed that he is ready to fill in the shoes of Chico Flores, when his side recommences their campaign after the international break.
The 30-year old is expected to feature in the first-eleven against Aston Villa on the 15th of September, as Flores serves out his 3 match suspension.
The Spaniard was shown a straight red card for his high boot challenge on Sunderland’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup, was forced to do a bit of tinkering, as he introduced
Tate in place of Wayne Routledge in order to bolster his defence.
Tate is yet to make his first start this season.
Flores’s suspension lit up the eyes of the Swans stalwart, who is viewing it as an opportunity to make an impression in front of his new boss.
He made known his intentions that he was eying a permanent place in the team, and vowed to put up a fight for that.
“I said I'd always want to be here and fight for my place and hopefully the manager will see that,” he told the reporters.
“If the manager chooses me to fill in and if I play well I expect to stay there, it's as simple as that.”
Laudrup’s men went into the game against Sunderland knowing that a win would put them at the summit of the league table. However, they were hit by an early setback, as Neil Taylor went off the field in the first half after fracturing his ankle.
After wiping out the Black Cats lead twice in the match, their charge to press for the winner was dented by the Spaniard’s expulsion, which forced them to settle for a draw.
Given the circumstances, the 30-year old was satisfied to see his team secure a point and hailed their excellent fighting spirit.
“We were looking to win the game, we got the first goal of the second half which was the main thing we said at half-time. I think when the red card came it was time for us take our medicine — we tried to get the win but we were happy to get the point.”
