Tatiana Antoshina wins final stage as Treier is leads in Feminin en Limousin Poitou Charente 2011
Russian Federation team’s Tatiana Antoshina won the fourth and final stage of International Feminin en Limousin Poitou Charente 2011 in Bessines sur Gartempe on Sunday, July 24.
The Russian cyclists took the total of 3 hours, 2 minutes and 36 seconds to cover the distance of 102.1 kilometres. The race leader Grete Treier of the S.C. Michela Fanini Rox team was runner-up with 55 seconds behind the Russian.
Grace Verbeke (Belgium) finished third and Karol-Anne Canuel of Mixed Vienne was in fourth place with the difference of 56 seconds.
Her team-mate Yulia Iliynikh, Oliveira Flavia (Vaiano Solaristech) and Rasa Leleivyte (Vaiano Solaristech) were in fifth, sixth and seventh place respectively.
Seven cyclists including, Mireia Epelde Bikendi (Lointek), Belen Lopez and Margriet Kloppenburg (Mixed Ladies) were disqualified.
With 49 kilometres to go, a group of four cyclists made their first breakaway including, Karol-Anne Canuel (Mixed Vienne), Yulia Iliynikh (Russian Federation), Martine Bras (Dolmans Landscaping Team) and Malgorzta Jasinska (S.C. Michela Fanini Rox).
All of them managed to gain a lead of few seconds over the peloton while Yuila Iliynikh launched an attack to take a lead but Canuel was in good form and took the first sprint.
The three cyclists including Grace Verbeke, Grete Treier and Tatiana Antoshina increased her pace with 53 kilometres to go. Antoshina gain an advantage and crossed the finish line ahead of the other cyclists.
The first three climbs of the stage, Karol-Anne Canuel took a lead ahead of Yulia but in the last two climbs Antoshina launched an attack and took the final climb of the stage ahead of Grace Verbeke.
Recently, Antoshina took fifth place in the Tour of Italy and grabbed second place in Feminin en Limousin. She also took second place in the Tour of Flanders.
Martine Bras (Dolmans Landscaping Team) took the overall sprint classification with 22 points ahead of Treier and Antoshina. Grace Verbeke (Belgium) took the overall King of Mountain title with 56 points. Mascha Pijnenborg was in second with 38 points and
Canuel was in third place.
Coryn Rivera took the title of overall best young riders ahead of Sanne. Treier took the overall standing with the timing of 10 hours, 5 minutes and 19 seconds.
Antoshina was runner-up with 5 seconds and Grace Verbeke was in third place one minute behind Treier.
