Tatiane Mayumi Sakemi overwhelms Women’s 100m breaststroke semi-final – Jose Finkel Trophy
Tatiane Mayumi Sakemi of ECP/SABESP overwhelmed the fastest spot in the semi-final of Women’s 100m breaststroke on day two of the 2012 Jose Finkel Trophy in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, August 21.
Sakemi faced tough battle from her team-member, Ana Carla Carvalho throughout the double lap event but with her invincible efforts, she managed to prove her supremacy over her opponents and tapped the wall for first position.
She continued her nerve-wrecking form throughout the event and qualified into the final round as most favourite swimmer to capture gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 09.02 seconds.
Following that, Carvalho experienced ruthless aggression of Julia Sebastian of UNISANTA in the second lap of the race. Carvalho and Sebastian remained engage in a neck-to-neck race throughout the 100m event and tapped the wall with an identical timings to
qualify as the second best finishers.
The duo remained 0.04 seconds slower from Sakemi and qualified into the playoff as second fastest swimmers by submitting a time of 1 minute and 09.06 seconds.
Their gruelling pace stayed one body length faster from Juliana Marangoni Marin of FIAT/MINAS, who stayed 0.85 seconds slower and entered the playoff as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 1 minute and 09.91 seconds.
Fifth best qualifying position of the race was secured by Renata Paula Sander of FIAT/MINAS, who suffered a loss of 0.22 seconds from her former finisher and ended her swim with a timing of 1 minute and 10.13 seconds.
Sander was chased by Beatriz Azzolini Travalon of ECP/SABESP, who stayed 0.06 seconds slower from her former finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 10.19 seconds for sixth position.
Travalon was followed by her teammate, Cecilia Zuppo Zaccarelli, who remained 0.25 seconds behind and posted a time of 1 minute and 10.44 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth best qualifying spot of the event was secured by Carolina Hurga Mussi of FIAT/MINAS, who hit the finishing blockade with an effort of 1 minute and 10.59 seconds.
In addition, Sakemi was excited with her fastest qualification effort and promised to do the same in playoff.
