Tattoos can be done over scars and lots of people get it done to help lessen the appearance of the scars. People that have lots of acne scars on their back can get an over all design that lessens the scars in that you see the tattoo first, scars next. Tats won't erase scars just distract your eye from them.

Women with C-section scars can tattoo over area to lessen appearance of scar and stretch marks.
