Tattoo's that mean true love?

Question

I want something different, not just a heart or the work love in a fancy design. I want it to represent that love is one of the most important things in life. its going to be on the top of my foot. all i can think of so far is 2 penguins (since penguins stay together forever) any other creative ideas?

everyone's perception of true love is different.

you have to find the thing that YOU truly believe represents true love for the tattoo to be truly special.

- swans also pair for life, and there is a sad old ledgend that they die of a broken heart if they are left alone.

I actually like the penguin idea. I tried to think of something but that is the only idea that comes to mind.  Have fun with it.

You could consider getting a quote from a poem or song about love, if you find one that is meaningful to you. I think the idea of penguins is cute. Love birds would be another thing. Parrots mate for life (most birds do, actually), but lovebirds are the ones people attribute that to especially. They are beautiful and it would make a lovely image for a tattoo - two birds kissing each other or preening each other (yes, they really do this - I used to work in a bird shop). They come in a variety of colors to suit your artistic desires, and you could make that look like a classic Sailor Jerry style or more modern.... Any two animals would work, though. Lobsters mate for life as well. I like the image of the elephants (I put a link) where the trunks form a heart... this could also be done with swans' necks. Of course, roses are another classic symbol of love, but you may find that boring. You could always do two interlocking circles to represent a shared love, and if you thought of another image you could add it into the circles. Or you could choose an image for each person and have it in their part of the circle and have something else in the middle.
