Question:

Tattoo designs that include the moon?

I have always look to the heavens at night and drawn strength from the moon. I do not know why, but the moon has always held a special place in my heart. Maybe in a few years I will get the tattoo, but I would like to start looking for designs now. I was thinking of getting a moon with a latin prayer wrapping around it. It will be O matris luna servo mihi in meus caligo hora. It means O mother moon protect me in my darkest hours. I would like the moon to be full but easily identifiable. This is roughly what I want. If you have any suggestions that would help to improve the design I would appreciate it. Also suggestions on where this would be placed is welcome. Thank you.

  1. I think you should design it yourself, because if anybody else makes the design you could be disapointed.

Play around with different ideas and sketch them out on paper, do it alot. (doesnt matter if your not a good artist).

Think about which of the designs you created you like the best and where on your body it would look the best. Then find a good tattoo artist( do your research) and bring them your sketch. If your not a good artist they will tone it up so it looks good.

On placement, really the fleshier areas dont hurt as much as where bone and nerves are. Pinch the skin with your nails along different parts of your body, and see which places registered more pain, that will give you a good idea on which parts hurt more or less.

  2. I have a moon on my foot but with the Latin it would probably go better on the flat canvas that is your back or you could possibly have the verse going round your arm.

I recommend this site to commission a design from:
