i got my tattoo colored last friday. and when i got the outline first it scabbed flaked and turned out good. when i got it colored it flaked alot more and the color is fading alot. I took care of it the way i took care of my first one. For the first three days i was told to put alittle bit of listerine on it and some a & d then after those three days put nothing on it. is there a problem or should it flake alot like the whole tattoo is covered in it.And should the color be alittle faded

  1. I would definitely stop with the listerine, all that will do is dry out the tattoo. You should go back to using the A&D ointment every couple of hours, this will help keep it moist and looking good. I used the A&D for at least a week and a half for my tattoos.

  2. ur artist is an assho*e!!!! you ruined it by putting mouthwash on it

took the color out now you have to go get it all redone

u have a very dum artist - you should make sure he is legit and hopefully he didnt give you aids by using some old needle

    when will people learn

    ugh

  3. yes it is completely normal for it to flake. your tattoo will never be as bright as when you first get it done. if some of the ink has come out of your skin because of it peeling, just go back to the place and they will normally fix it up for free, and if not for free then for super cheap.

edit: yeah i dont know why they would tell you to use listerine, that makes no sense at all.

  4. your tattoo is still healing it take 6 weeks or so for a tat to completely heal you can still put the a&d on it just a little to keep it moist or a realy good lotion just don't use one with lots of scent a good one to try is aveeno lotion......and listerine i have never heard of that.....where did you get your tat done at.......

  5. You put mouthwash on a tattoo?!?Does that even sound like a good idea?

I think you might have misunderstood what he said.

Leave your poor tattoo alone. Wash it with soap and water and try not to give yourself an infection.

  6. you really put listerine on it?

that is just crazy, but the A&D is fine, you should have put it on there whenever it looked like it needed it, even if it was after 3 days.

  7. Listerine?  Who the heck told you that?  A&d ointment ok yes but listerine...  Color does fade a bit after peeling but if it fades way too much I would go see the tattoo artist and ask him or her what is going wrong.

  8. i have absolutely no idea why you would be told to put listerine on a tattoo but as far as the a&d goes, it works pretty well. the problem is even though you are only supposed to use it for three days, after that you need to start using a good unscented moisturizing lotion to keep it moist so it doesnt peel so much. however, its only been a week so i doubt the tattoo is ruined. just start putting lotion on and wait till the tat is fully healed before judging the outcome of it. alot of colored tats look like they fade during the healing process then come out fine.
