Tattoo meanings????!!!!?

alot of people get tattoos that have a personal meaning to it! just was wondering what people have and why??

Well having a tattoo that means somthing to you makes it special. My tattoo means cat in chiniese. It means a few things to me;

1.my idol is called kat von d

2. it gives me luck, the chiniese lucky cat meneki neko

I dunno it just feels better to have a meaning to your tattoo

My wife and I were married three months ago and we felt that getting a tattoo was a permanent sign of our love and devotion to each other. I have her name in Chinese characters on my back and she has mine. Don't tell her father, he'll kill me.

We will be honeymooning in Hawaii and my second tattoo is of a tribal dolphin to commemorate the time when we swim with dolphins in Oahu.

I have a small detailed daisy on my lower hip in memory of my best friend who died. Her fave flower was a daisy!

I dont think i could get a tattoo that didnt have any meaning to me, they are so much more special when they represent something important to you and im very happy on mine, it took me two years to decide for definate!

Okay so. I have three tattoos. Two of the three have meanings. The third was just an amazing picture that someone close to me designed for me.

My first tattoo is a heart with angel wings and a halo, which is for my grandfather. Because he was my world. And he passed away a few years ago. I also have Faith written on it because he always told me to have faith in myself, in others, in love and most importantly in God.

My third tattoo is a Cherry Blossom I got on the back of my neck which I got when I was going through a really rough time in my life. A cherry blossom signifies how short life is, and to enjoy it because it could be gone quicker than you know.

My next tattoo is going to be the word Hope on my wrist, but written in cursive with Pink breast cancer ribbons. Because my mom had breast cancer, my mentor in high school passed away from it, and now my mother in law is slowly losing her battle as well.

I love dragons so two of mine are dragons.  Another one I have is a triskelion of three joined circles representing the Holy Trinity.  My last one is a sun that matches my wife's.  We got them together Valentine's Day weekend this year.  They are for our love.

I would like to get some more.  I have a woodcut that my mother did that I think would make a good tattoo tribute to her.  My father is a carpenter and his father was a potter.  I would like to get something combining them.  That has a double meaning as well, as Jesus was the carpenter son of a carpenter, and there is a passage in the Bible, 2 Corinthians 4:7, that says "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us."

can't speak for the general population, however I can speak for me. I haven't got any yet but was thinking either a scorpion (my zodiac sign is scorpion) or I'm loving this new pin-up girl phase. All the way with betty page I say!!

I have three tattoos on my arms and none of them have any meaning at all. I'm not into that.

I get tattoos because I like the way they look, not for any reason beyond that.

I plan on getting a lot more too.

Well, this february I'm going to be getting one done on my 18th birthday. :D I've put a lot of thought into it. It'll be a phoenix, which represents rebirth and transformation through adversity. There will be a lot of latin and greek on it as well. In the body (in latin) it'll say "to the stars through adversity" and in the wings somewhere it'll say "nothing is heavy to those who have wings, thus she shall go to the stars." And I've also found a bible verse that inspired the rest of the tattoo. In greek it will say "Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." That will be written on a vine full of fruit that will kind of be all around the phoenix and my back. I'm hoping the tattoo artist will be able to incorporate all that I want so that it will look like it belongs together. And one more thing ha ha.. I'm thinking of having lotus flowers around the tattoo somehow, as it represents rebirth and purity too. I read this on a site:

just like the beautiful lotus flower floats on the muddy waters of a pond, it is purity floating on the dirty waters of our society." It's going to be on my back... because I'm sure it's going to be too big to put anywhere else.

Oh, you also asked why. Instead of telling you about my whole life it just has to do with my mom, friends that have died, and things that happened during my childhood. It represents me overcoming those things. I also think this is the perfect time in my life for a tattoo. I'm going through a lot of changes - like going to college. I'm starting a new chapter in my life and I couldn't be happier!

Note: I'm trusting that whoever reads this won't think about taking my idea. It'd kind of hurt my feelings guys.. so don't think about it. :P

I have 2 tattoos. The first one i got is a heart with my name through it, it means love myself b4 getting my heart broken again. The second one is two scorpions with the scorpion symbol in the middle.....my sign is scorpio that why i have that one.

my 1st tattoo- FTW - **** the world

reason why: i was going thru a real rough time in my life- with everything & couldnt even get the support from family nor friends.it was a rough time for me & didnt realy see the meaning & point of life- no moral. so i felt that - FTW, was right for me. alot of personal reasons inside of it as well.
