  1. Go for it! I had my birthmark covered with a tattoo and has absolutely no problems. Mine was much darker than the rest of my skin, now I don't have to look at a nasty birthmark, all I see is a pretty tattoo.

Unless the birthmark is precancerous there are not any health risks. Birthmarks (that are actually birthmarks meaning you've had them since childhood) are not cancerous.

Precancerous marks develop late in life and are usually caused by over exposure to the sun (these are often referred to as birthmarks because they are similar in appearance).

So as long as it's actually a birthmark and not something caused by sun or skin damage, your safe and go for it.

  2. Sure! Why not?

  3. The tat wouldn't cause cancer, but it could keep you from identifying it. Moles/birthmarks will change shape if you develop skin cancer, and if it's covered up, you would never notice that warning sign.

But it is safe otherwise to tattoo over it. It's just a more concentrated area of skin pigment.

  4. You should be fine, but it's definetely up to you. I got a tattoo over a birthmark on my back, and it healed fine. I can still see it and check on it if I need to, just to make sure it's not cancerous!

    :]
