  1. Such a free spirit and totally her own person!  Like, that's so cool!  A tattoo!

  2. Is it going to be something that she is going to want forever? But, its her body and she has to live with it. As far as pain, all those places are painful, I would say either between shoulder blades or left ankle. Pretty much any place that has a lot of nerve endings or very thin skin is going to hurt. Her being scared, its not going to be as bad as she thinks. Everyone has this idea thought up in their mind that they are going to cry during the tattoo, but there arent that many people that cry, unless your a baby.

  3. Inside of left ankle - but that doesn't mean it's not painful. That depends on individual pain threshold.

  4. Um... that shooting star with the rainbow idea... is she going to get "the more you know" printed over it?

  5. I don't really get what you mean by "coming out from" but if she wants it, she should go for it, it's her body, not ours.

All of those will be painful, they are all in really bony places, which typically causes more pain, left ankle would probably hurt the most, I'd say that the least painful would probably be her shoulder blade, b/c ankle and behind ear are both really thin-skinned places, and in between shoulder blades is right on her spine, but then again, shoulder blade is on a big bone too. I say she should get it between shoulder blades, regardless of the pain.

  6. That tattoo seems really cute and it's also different.

When I got my first tattoo I was so scared I couldn't eat but when I got it done it was no biggie. It didn't hurt at all and I got mine on my back shoulder.

For places that aren't painful I can't help you because every ones pain tolerance is different, sorry.

  7. I think that's a cute idea. If that's what she wants and has put a lot of thought into it, great.

And pain is different for everyone. Out of those options I would probably say ankle would hurt the least.

I have one in between my shoulder blades and it hurt quite a bit.

Also, I'm not if that tattoo would look great between the shoulder blades...I think either off the side on one shoulder or behind the ear would be super cute. But she also has to think if she wants to be able to cover it, would behind the ear be a good idea...

Ankle would look good too, but I like the idea of it up higher on the body for some reason.

  8. I have five little stars behind my ear and it didn't hurt at all. When it was over, I felt like half of my body was at a crazy rock concert because I couldn't hear anything. I heard ankles hurt, shoulder blade is pretty bony so that will hurt. Everyone's pain tolerance is different, so asking people won't really get you anywhere, she will just have to get it and see how it feels for her.

  9. It is really hard to answer questions like this. The rule of thumb, or the word is that the more muscle in the area the less it hurts, the more bone the more it hurts.

But, the above isn't necessarily true either - all the way. It also depends on a persons personal level of tolerance for pain. What has hurt for others may not hurt for you and vise-versa.

    I have a total of 4 tats

1rst - on the inside of right ankle - this one didn't hurt at all.

2nd - on the mons veneris (the area where pubic hair grows above the private area). This only hurt a little, on scale of 1-10, 10 being most painful, I would say it was about a 4 or 5.

3rd - behind my ear on he right side. This one didn't hurt at all! It was a bit annoying though with the buzzing righ tby the ear.

4th - on the inside of left ankle. For some reason ths one hurt, I would say an 8 to 9, only missing 10 because I view 10 as being the cut-off line to stopping.

I have no idea why one ankle hurt and the other was like I felt nothing.

If you are really worried about it I can only suggest having the tattooist doing like a small star to start out with. If it hurts you can put it somewhere else and it won't look like a tat gone wrong.

Also, take some time to think about how you want it - exactly.

The size, placement, colors, etc. Most tattoists are really good and can even add things making it look like a work of art. Others will sa they did exactly what you want and it will look like sh*t.

Do not be afraid to speak to the tattooist!!! You are paying him for something that is permanent.

    Best of luck!

  10. I do have a tattoo on my higher upper back, but closer to my neck. Speaking from personal experience, it wasn't an incredibly painful tattoo and the only parts that had me cringing with pain, is when it got close to the back of my neck. With any tattoo, the pain ratio will be increased, due to how much fat and skin is in said area. The more skin and fat, the less pain you'll experience.

Between the shoulder blades is probably the least painful of the places you listed. I can tell you right now, behind the ear would be very painful for 2 reasons.

    A) it's all bone back there, and no fat to balance out the pain.

    B) the annoying tattooing noise is right up close to your ear, so it'd be likely it would just increase that frustrated feeling.

Best of luck! Getting your first tattoo is always very nerve-wrecking.. but it's really not that bad!

  11. well its gonna hurt no matter where you get it, but behind the ear is probably the most painful.  I think the design that shes thinking of getting is very cute.  I have a tattoo on the outside of my ankle and on the back of my neck.  the ankle hurt more.  So i would go with between the shoulders.  it would look really cute!

  12. Least painful would be the inside of ankle

  13. i don't know if i like the star idea.. it sounds nice. rainbow is for g*y pride, you know that right?  if so, then awesome... go for it.

I like something more on the sign you are, the month you were born.

Maybe an angel of some sort reaching the stars. want it big? go for the shoulders.. want it small?  keep it on the back leg.

ankles hurt, more flesh, the better...

if you want something more modern, go for a modernized tribal band on the back.

  14. Wherever is the fleshiest part. tattoos on bone hurts more than tattoos on flesh or fatty areas. Check for a place where you can pinch an inch. All of the places you mentioned have bone just underneath. But it really doesn't hurt all THAT much and it sounds like a simple tattoo. Maybe she could take a painkiller about a 1/2 an hour before.
