So, I got a tattoo on my thigh and kinda want to take it off. It's RED, GREEN, and some ORANGE. If I take it off will it take many...many treatments? or will it be a little easy given that the colors are not that dark? Thanks!

  1. Firstly is this a home done tattoo or was it professionally done?

Professional tattoos tend to be deeper into the skin and can therefore take longer to remove.  I have seen some home done tattoos removed after one session with a laser because they are only just in the surface of the skin.

However practitioners claim that tattoo removal of professional art is 95% effective, however look at Angelina Jolie, her "removed" tattoos are still slightly visible.

Believe it or not black is the easiest colour to remove and that will still take several sessions.

Different type of laser work better on different parts of the colour sprectrum.  The red and orange for example would be most effectively removed by a Q-Switched laser whereas the green pigment is most effected by a Versapulse or Medlite laser.

The best thing to do is take your tattoo to see a laser removal practitioner, they will be able to give you a rough idea of how many sessions you will need to remove your tattoo.

Without seeing the tattoo all I can suggest is be prepared for between 5-8 sessions for a small piece that is professionally done.

Have you thought about getting the design covered over with something else?

This is both cheaper and less painful!
