Hello all. I'm looking for some sort of help on my second tattoo. I know what I want it to mean, but I was curious if anyone knew of any direct emblems or visuals that represented the word "Chivalry" or "Chivalrous"

I was also considering putting the word Chivalry down my left side starting below the armpit and ending around the beltline. Ideas and links would be great.

  1. get a shark

  2. When I think chivalry I think knighthood and courtly love like Lancelot's love for Guinevere in Le Morte d'Arthur.

  3. Lancelot and Guinivere just screwed like bunnies. They're nothing you'd want to emulate. Get a shining sword.

  4. I'd look at some sets and costumes from the productions of Wagner's operas Siegfried and Lohengrin.  The Old Germanic ideals are all about that.  Rings of fire, swords (personally swords are a bit overdone, so I wouldn't make that the focal point), oaths - usually sworn on a ring as well, but also Odin's spear (just look up Odin to find more associations - like runes), horses (which galloping on the hip would be a good base), and even a good well-drawn dragon or giant would work.  Not directly "chivalry" - but honor.  And usually these quests are done for women.  (google image search for chivalry or Minne - ie Hohe Minne) See also this work by Albrecht Durer, which has some interesting themes that could relate: http://www.penwith.co.uk/artofeurope/dur...

  5. I would get a jousting lance... from armpit to beltline... get a realy good pic of one, with a bright plume on the hilt... that could look sick... and nothing represents the knight code like a jousting lance.

  6. a knight in shining armor
