  1. I've got one large tattoo but no brandings. I gather brandings are insanely painful, but over relatively quickly (the initial pain at least). Getting tattooed hurts, but depending on the size, I'd hazard a guess that while the pain isn't as intense as that of branding, it takes longer. One thing, though: If you are going to get tattooed over scar tissue, you need to be really careful where you get it done and by whom. It can certainly be done, but scar tissue reacts differently to normal skin, in that it is more prone to distorting and blurring the ink. Your best bet would be to find a reputable place (word of mouth is a good start), speak to the tattooist, show them what you're thinking of, and see what they have to say.

  2. Tattooos hurt during the tattoo, and then are a little tender after.

The same size in a BRAND is a second - third degree burn. They hurt worse than almost anything you can imagine, and a bad second [ without being deep enough to scar ] will hurt for weeks.

  3. um a brand obviously....try sticking your hand on a hot stove for about 10 secs or so and then decide if you want a brand or not!

  4. A tattoo hurts really bad for as long as it takes to get it (one, two, three hours) but a brand (being a third degree burn) hurts for a great deal longer.  And it is harder to cover or remove.
