http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in the second Test of the two match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur in Dhaka.
The hosts scored 338 runs after being put into bat by the opposition’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972. Although the total was not big enough to cause concerns for the Men in Green, almost two days of play were consumed due to the weather conditions.
This put Pakistan in quite a challenging position, as the team had to score runs at a decent rate in order to fight for a result.
However, the conditions in Mirpur were not ideal for playing the big shots, which forced the tourists to at cautiously and cover up the lead.
According to Taufeeq, “I think we were on the back foot [initially] and we would have been in deeper trouble had we lost two, three early wickets. We wanted to get closer to the [Bangladesh] runs and then see how it stands. We wanted to stay at the wicket
and wait for the bad deliveries. I think we were quite successful.”
The solid left-handed batsman scored a terrific century in the ongoing Test, but said that the double-ton he got against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 in Abu Dhabi this year was the most memorable moment of his career.
The 30-year-old stated, “I scored a double hundred against Sri Lanka and that was very special because I had not made a double hundred before.”
He further went onto say that his debut century against Bangladesh was also one of the best times in his life, as it was scored on debut back in 2001 in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Multan-c819, Pakistan.
Taufeeq will be expecting his side to capitalise on the start he has provided and win the match, which seems to be headed towards a draw at the moment.
However, Pakistan have a decent bowling attack and anything can happen towards the end of the match, as the bowlers are getting some assistance off the wicket.
Even if the match ends in a draw, it will not hurt Misbah and his men, as they will still win the series by 1-0.
