Taufik Hidayat outplays Wesley Caulkett in Men’s Singles first round at Australian Open GP Gold
Indonesia’s mega star Taufik Hidayat displayed a sensational show of his hard-to-learn craft when he outplayed Australia’s Wesley Caulkett in Men’s Singles first round at Australia Open GP Gold 2012 in Australia, on Tuesday, April 3.
The World Number 11 Taufik, who has been placed at number five in Men’s Singles seeding in the tournament, did not face any considerable trouble from his local opponent and easily surged into the second round.
The higher ranked Indonesian remained in full control in the whole contest and ended it without putting in any considerable effort. He thrashed his rival in straight sets by taking the court time for just 24 minutes.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Caulkett was completely unable to stop the progressive run of his opponent and lost the match without putting up any resistance at all.
Taufik, who is known for his amazing temperament and impressive technique, started his campaign in a dominating manner and set up an early lead by playing positively.
He executed his powerful strokes in all areas of the court and took no time in making adjustment with the court condition. Until the interval, the Indonesian was in strong position by taking an impressive lead.
After the break, Taufik continued his positive and inspiring run and did not let his opponent to catch him up at any stage.
The fifth seeded Indonesian did not take much time in winding up the opening set with a tremendous margin of 21-12.
In the second set, Caulkett tried to play better badminton and also remained close to his opponent in opening rallies but failed to maintain his elevated play as Taufik injected more power in his strokes and started to set up lead.
Until the break in second set, the Indonesian again took a comfortable lead without facing much resistance.
After the break, Taufik remained in full swing as he played his strokes in all areas and did not miss any chance to stretch his lead.
He bagged the second set easily with a remarkable margin of 21-14.
The higher ranked Taufik won his first encounter in Australian Open with a striking 21-12 and 21-14 margin on the board.
