Taurine/ energy drinks

If energy drinks carry about 1000/2000 mg of taurine... which is... ox bile then whyyyy aren't they banned or put out of business? I love energy drinks but... I am turned off by the thought or drinking anything coming out of an animal front or back.

  1. I totally agree, I don't drink energy drinks but It's good to know what goes into them. Now I can tell my kids the reason I don't drink them..lol.. Thank you

  2. LOL gross aint it.... well it is not that bad... atleast they do not grind grubs up to put them in drinks.

  3. Simply put: because taurine isn't dangerous.

Use protein drinks instead of energy drinks in the future - They offer the same boost, and they're healthier for you. Also, they don't have you crash after a few hours, like energy drinks. I think the most well known "protein energy drink" is 5 Hour Energy.

  4. Exactly why should it be banned or outlawed? There is nothing bad about it.

I think the level you describe is on the high side too.

Taurine is an organic acid which is the building blocks for ALL amino acids. It is found in our heart, nervous system, skeletal muscles, white blood cells, and bile where it is needed to process and digest fats and oils including fat soluble nutrients.

Yes the early forms of taurine were derived from bull bile that does not mean that is where it all comes from. Supposedly some of it is synthesized these days.

If it is that bad then what is your opinion on gelatin and glucosomine?

  5. Then you should probably not eat Jell-o or any Molded(chewy) candy..

  6. energy drinks are way bad for you dont drink them... they make me sick to the stomach i think they taste good but like after half a hour i feel way sick..
